Position Overview:

As part of the Wastewater Collection team, you will be responsible for operational maintenance of stormwater and sanitary infrastructure, such as flushing pipes, clearing blockages, maintaining watercourses, installing and repairing sanitary and stormwater sewer structures and pipe system, replacing, repairing manholes and catch basins, and performing stormwater management facility (SWMF) and watercourse maintenance/construction.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Performs flushing and cleaning of storm and sanitary pipes and structures.
  • Clears sanitary blockages from residential and commercial services.
  • Cleans, maintains, and repairs water courses.
  • Restores roadside ditches and driveway culverts.
  • Performs stormwater management facility (SWMF) maintenance, including removal of sediment and repair of associated structures.
  • Repair/replacement of mainline storm and sanitary sewer and sewer laterals, catch basins and cross drains, inlets/outlets, and manholes.
  • Will be required to participate in on call rotation.
  • Provides assistance related to pumping station maintenance as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned including assisting with operational.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid MTO "DZ" class driver's license in good standing.
  • Ability to successfully complete required job progression criteria as it relates to this job title, including passing Ministry of Environment (MOE) OWWCO Wastewater Collection License Level 1 exam (70% pass) within 12 months of hire.
  • Ability to participate as an effective team member.
  • Must be a competent person as defined by the Ontario Health & Safety Act.
  • Must be available for "on call" duty and winter call outs as required.
  • Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
